The new Holiday Home Static Caravans we supply here at Pioneer Caravans are built to either EN1647 or BS3632 standard. So what is the difference?
EN1647 is the European Standard for static caravans built to be suitable for seasonal/temporary holiday use.
British Standard BS3632 provides a minimum specification requirement in terms of a static caravan/lodge caravan built for more year-round use. The Standards include technical aspects relating to the design, construction and performance of the Holiday Home. The structural features effected include improved ventilation, increased thermal insulation, and measurements including room size, as well as the construction of the floor, roof and external walls with improved sound proofing. In short it is built to be more energy efficient.
Prices will vary model to model and depending upon individual specification/options on the caravans, but in general EN1647 Holiday Homes will be priced more competitively as they tend to be smaller in size and with less spec, being designed for more seasonal use. BS3632 is generally offered on the larger Holiday Homes and Lodges and on the higher end models in the Manufacturers range. Bear in mind also there are tax differences here as the BS3632 statics will have the structural build aspect charged at 0% instead of the 5% charged on an EN1647 caravan. The contents will still attract 20% VAT.
So which one is more suitable for you? This will depend largely upon how you will be using the static caravan as well as where it is to be sited and when it will be used, your budget, the Holiday Park seasonal opening times and the Park Licence, individual plot size available/chosen and of course your own personal preference and budget. The important thing is to know which one you are buying and to understand that whether an EN1647 or BS3632 standard, both are designed as Holiday Homes built to be able to be moved and sited in different locations and as such are not bricks and mortar. There are many other Holiday Home terms you will come across whilst talking to Holiday Parks or doing your own research such as ‘Winterised’, Wet Winter Pack, ‘Super Warm’ and ‘Residential Specification’. Please call us for more information and clarification on these if needed. tel:01733222244
Not all Manufacturers build both EN1647 and BS3632 Holiday Homes, some specialise in one or the other. We source our static caravans from the main Holiday Home Manufacturers and have a good range of both types available or to order for our own Parks and our Park and Retail customers, whether a 1 bedroom 23’ x 10’(EN1647) or a 40’ x 20’, 3 bedroom Holiday Lodge (BS3632). We also have both EN1647 and BS3632 Holiday Homes here to view on our showground in Eye, Peterborough, PE6 7UB.
At Pioneer Caravans we are always pleased to help and advise on all aspects of Holiday Home purchase and use, whether you are looking for something for a Holiday Park or private land, at the initial stage of research and enquiries or are ready to purchase your static caravan.
