SANDRINGHAM
HOUSE - Sandringham is the much-loved country
retreat of Her Majesty the Queen, and has been
the private home of four generations of British
monarchs. The house is perhaps the most famous
stately home in Norfolk - and certainly one of
the most beautiful. Set in the 60-acre gardens
which have been called "The finest of the
Royal gardens"
|

 |
HOUGHTON
HALL - Houghton has a very special, unspoilt
atmosphere with its herd of white deer in the
park, and peacocks strutting on the west front.
The house itself has changed little since the
18th-century, and it is easy to imagine Sir Robert
Walpole entertaining his guests after a hard
day's hunting.
|

 |
CASTLE
RISING - The castle itself, with its man-made
earth banks and ditches, covers an area of 12
acres with its strong, yet beautiful keep within.
It soon became one of the most important in East
Anglia, boasting a large list of several Lords
and Ladies, from the de'Albigny Earls of Sussex
to the Howard Dukes of Norfolk, with Isabella,
Queen of Edward II, being its most famous resident.
